The acquisition provides Amneal access to the global biosimilars opportunity, with more than USD 300 billion in projected biologics loss of exclusivity over the next decade

Amneal Pharmaceuticals has completed its acquisition of Kashiv BioSciences, creating a fully integrated global biosimilars platform with capabilities spanning research, development, manufacturing and commercialisation.

The combination brings together Kashiv’s biologics research, development and manufacturing capabilities with Amneal’s commercial scale and is expected to establish biosimilars as a major long-term growth pillar within the company’s Affordable Medicines business.

The acquisition provides Amneal access to the global biosimilars opportunity, with more than USD 300 billion in projected biologics loss of exclusivity over the next decade. The combined portfolio is expected to support a consistent cadence of biosimilar launches over the coming years.

“The completion of this acquisition marks a pivotal step in Amneal’s strategy to become America’s #1 Affordable Medicines company,” said Chirag Patel, Co-Founder and Co-Chief Executive Officer, Amneal Pharmaceuticals. “With this acquisition, we have created an integrated biosimilars business that can launch multiple biosimilars each year and extends our growth profile into the next decade.”

Chintu Patel, Co-Founder and Co-Chief Executive Officer, Amneal Pharmaceuticals, said the company is pleased to welcome the Kashiv team and added that the acquisition positions Amneal to capitalise on the wave of biologic loss of exclusivity and expand patient access to high-quality, affordable biologic medicines.

The acquisition builds on a relationship between Amneal and Kashiv that spans more than a decade. Integration activities are already underway, with the companies focused on combining their development and manufacturing capabilities and advancing Kashiv’s biosimilar pipeline.

The transaction is expected to strengthen Amneal’s position in the rapidly expanding biosimilars market by providing an end-to-end platform capable of developing, manufacturing and commercialising multiple biosimilar products globally.
