Biocon Academy, the advanced biosciences learning center and CSR initiative of Biocon Limited, celebrated the graduation of 156 students at its 10th Graduation Ceremony held at its Bengaluru campus.
The graduating cohort comprised seven batches across five specialized programs, including Biosciences, Global Regulatory Affairs, Quality Control Analytical, Applied Industrial Microbiology, and Sterile Manufacturing.
The ceremony was attended by Kiran Mazumdar-Shaw, Chief Mentor of Biocon Academy and Executive Chairperson of Biocon Limited; E.V. Ramana Reddy, Chairman of the Karnataka Skill Development Authority; and Prasanth Nair, Astronaut (Gaganyaatri) at Indian Space Research Organisation. Seven students were awarded Gold Medals for Academic Excellence.
Since its establishment in 2013, Biocon Academy has trained more than 1,300 students in applied biotechnology disciplines through industry-focused programs designed to bridge the gap between academia and industry.
The academy combines classroom learning with practical industry exposure to prepare graduates for careers in biotechnology and biopharmaceutical sectors.
Kiran Mazumdar-Shaw said: “Biocon Academy has played a pivotal role in building industry-ready talent for the biotechnology sector. As science evolves, so must skilling. With the launch of new programs in Artificial Intelligence in Life Sciences and Drug Metabolism and Pharmacokinetics, Biocon Academy continues to align its curriculum with emerging industry needs.”
Bindu Ajit, AVP – Program Dean, Biocon Academy, said: “Biocon Academy is committed to developing a future-ready biotechnology workforce that can drive innovation and strengthen the biopharmaceutical ecosystem.”
The graduating students represented programs conducted in collaboration with leading academic partners, including Keck Graduate Institute, BITS Pilani, JSS Academy of Higher Education and Research, and M.S. Ramaiah College of Arts Science and Commerce.
Among the graduating cohorts, 54 students completed the Biocon KGI Certificate Program in Biosciences, while 41 students graduated from the Syngene Ramaiah Certificate Program in Sterile Manufacturing. The remaining graduates completed programs in Global Regulatory Affairs, Quality Control Analytical, and Applied Industrial Microbiology.
