Partnership gives Cipla development and commercialisation rights for TQB2102 across India, South Africa and five other emerging markets
Cipla Limited has entered into an exclusive licensing and supply agreement with Sino Biopharmaceutical Limited (SBP Group) for Rolditamig Deuderuxtecan (TQB2102), a potential best-in-class HER2 bispecific antibody-drug conjugate (ADC) being developed for HER2-expressing cancers.
Under the agreement, SBP Group subsidiary Chia Tai Tianqing Pharmaceutical Group Co., Ltd. (CTTQ) has granted Cipla exclusive rights to develop and commercialise TQB2102 in India, South Africa and five other emerging markets.
Cipla will be responsible for local clinical development, regulatory activities and commercialisation of the therapy across the licensed territories. CTTQ will continue to manufacture and supply the product.
TQB2102 is currently being evaluated across a range of HER2-expressing cancers and has shown encouraging clinical potential in patients with HER2-low advanced breast cancer.
The partnership combines SBP Group's oncology pipeline and development and manufacturing capabilities with Cipla's regulatory, medical, market access and commercial infrastructure across emerging markets.
The companies said the collaboration is aimed at accelerating local clinical development and regulatory approvals, potentially enabling wider access to the therapy for patients in the licensed markets, subject to applicable regulatory approvals.
Achin Gupta, Managing Director and Global Chief Executive Officer, Cipla, said the agreement strengthens the company's oncology portfolio with a HER2-targeted ADC addressing an area of significant unmet need.
“At Cipla, innovation is central to our mission of expanding access to therapies that address unmet patient needs. Breast cancer remains a significant healthcare challenge, and this agreement strengthens our oncology portfolio with a promising HER2-targeted antibody-drug conjugate,” Gupta said.
He added that Cipla, together with SBP Group and CTTQ, aims to accelerate development and expand access to the treatment across the licensed territories, subject to regulatory approvals.
Eric Tse, CEO, SBP Group, said expanding global access to medicines developed by the group remains a key strategic priority.
According to Tse, TQB2102 has demonstrated encouraging clinical potential across different HER2-expressing breast cancer populations, while Cipla's scale and local expertise make it a strong partner for expanding access to the therapy across India, South Africa and other emerging markets.
The agreement further strengthens Cipla's presence in oncology and targeted biologic therapies, while providing SBP Group with an established commercial and regulatory partner to advance its late-stage oncology asset across key emerging markets.
