Netherlands' Royal Philips, a global health technology leader, has unveiled its next-generation web diagnostic viewer aimed at revolutionizing radiology.

The company has launched Philips Image Management 15, the latest evolution of its Vue PACS platform. The highlight: a zero-footprint, web-based diagnostic viewer that delivers full desktop-level performance directly through a standard web browser.

Designed with a completely new interface, the viewer aims to help radiologists work smarter, faster, and more collaboratively, while reducing IT complexity and freeing up valuable clinical time.

In an era where time, accuracy, and accessibility are critical, Philips says the viewer tackles one of healthcare’s biggest pain points: lost clinical time due to slow systems and the challenges of remote reading. It offers high-performance server-side rendering, workflow automation, and a full suite of advanced clinical tools—all securely accessible online with no local installation required.

“We were among the first to test the new Philips web-based diagnostic viewer, and the difference is clear. It loads studies quickly and runs smoothly, even with large datasets. The new interface is intuitive and lets us focus entirely on the images, a real step forward in performance and usability,” said Pieter Hoste, Chief Radiologist and Head of Medical Imaging, AZ West Hospital, Belgium.

The system is optimized for seamless performance even with complex datasets, including digital breast tomosynthesis and cardiac CT, ensuring consistent, high-quality image interpretation whether on-site, across the enterprise, or remotely.

Philips’ viewer integrates connected AI tools to consolidate patient data in a single platform, supporting faster, more informed diagnoses. It links directly to the interactive reporting module, allowing radiologists to review images and generate reports without switching systems.

The platform also accelerates interpretation by aligning images across modalities and time points, fully integrated with Philips’ Advanced Visualization Workspace. Clinicians can embed deeper analysis results directly into reports, boosting productivity and efficiency.

Built for cloud deployment through Philips HealthSuite, powered by Amazon Web Services (AWS), the viewer also offers on-premises options, preserving existing infrastructure while enabling a gradual transition to the cloud.

“Health systems are under intense pressure to do more with less. The web diagnostic viewer is a milestone in our journey toward cloud-enabled, AI-integrated diagnostic imaging. It brings the power of advanced visualization, collaboration, and intelligence to any browser, helping radiologists stay connected and productive wherever care happens while streamlining IT operations,” said Madhuri Sebastian, Business Leader Imaging Informatics at Philips.
