New facility equipped with advanced imaging technology to support 200 additional procedures a month and benefit nearly 3,000 more patients annually

Apollo Hospitals, Seshadripuram has strengthened its cardiac care infrastructure with the commissioning of a second Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory (Cath Lab), a move aimed at expanding access to advanced heart care and reducing treatment delays for patients across Bengaluru and neighbouring districts.

The new Cath Lab was inaugurated by Dr. C. N. Manjunath, renowned cardiologist and Member of Parliament representing Bengaluru Rural Lok Sabha Constituency, in the presence of senior members of the hospital's Cardiac Sciences team, along with Akshay Oleti, CEO, Apollo Hospitals Karnataka Region, and Uday Davda, Vice President, Apollo Hospitals, Seshadripuram.

The expansion comes amid growing demand for specialised cardiac interventions. Apollo Hospitals, Seshadripuram currently manages more than 4,000 cardiac cases annually.

Since its first Cath Lab became operational in 2015, the facility has supported over 27,000 procedures, providing round-the-clock services for both emergency and elective cardiac interventions.

With the addition of the second Cath Lab, the hospital expects to perform nearly 200 more procedures every month, increasing its overall capacity to approximately 500 procedures monthly. The enhanced infrastructure is projected to benefit close to 3,000 additional patients each year.

The newly installed Cath Lab features the GE Allia platform, an advanced imaging system designed to support complex interventions with greater precision while helping reduce radiation exposure and contrast dye usage.

The facility will cater to a broad range of specialties including interventional cardiology, structural heart disease, electrophysiology, vascular interventions, neuro-intervention and paediatric cardiology.

Dr. C. N. Manjunath emphasized the importance of expanding cardiac infrastructure to meet the growing burden of cardiovascular diseases. He noted that timely access to intervention remains critical in cardiac emergencies, where every minute can influence patient outcomes.

Akshay Oleti said the second Cath Lab reflects Apollo's continued investment in strengthening specialised healthcare services across Karnataka. He added that the additional facility would help accommodate a larger patient load, support more complex procedures and improve emergency response capabilities.
