These surgeries involve no bone cuts, minimal surgical trauma, smaller incisions and significantly reduced blood loss

In a landmark breakthrough for advanced cardiac care, Apollo Hospitals, Jubilee Hills has set a world record by completing 100 assisted robotic cardiac surgeries in just 155 days using the da Vinci Surgical System.

The achievement underscores the accelerating shift towards minimally invasive, technology-driven heart treatment in modern medicine.

The record-setting feat was led by senior consultant cardiac transplant surgeon Dr Nagesh Ayalasomayajula and his specialist team, marking a major milestone in the growing adoption of robotic assistance for complex heart procedures.

Speaking on the achievement, Dr Nagesh Ayalasomayajula said robotic-assisted cardiac surgery offers clear advantages over conventional open-heart operations.

“These surgeries involve no bone cuts, minimal surgical trauma, smaller incisions and significantly reduced blood loss. Patients experience less pain, faster recovery, shorter hospital stay, early return to normal activities and minimal scarring. The robotic platform enhances precision, flexibility and superior visualisation, enabling surgeons to perform complex heart procedures with greater accuracy,” he explained.

Dr. Sangita Reddy, Joint Managing Director of Apollo Hospitals Group, said the milestone reflects both consistency in outcomes and improved patient experience.

“This milestone reflects Apollo Hospitals’ commitment to adopting cutting-edge medical technologies and setting new benchmarks in cardiac care. Robotic-assisted procedures are transforming surgical efficiency and enhancing the overall patient experience,” she said.

Tejesvi Rao Veerapalli, CEO of Apollo Hospitals Telugu States, called the development a clear sign of future-ready healthcare delivery.

“Robotic cardiac surgery represents the future of minimally invasive treatment, offering improved clinical outcomes and quicker recovery. Apollo Hospitals continues to invest in advanced technology to ensure world-class cardiac care is accessible to patients across Telangana and Andhra Pradesh,” he added.

Medical experts say the growing adoption of robotic-assisted cardiac procedures is poised to reshape heart care by improving surgical precision, reducing complications, and accelerating recovery—setting new benchmarks in modern cardiac treatment.
