Apollo Hospitals has converted its flagship oncology facility at Teynampet, Chennai, into a comprehensive multi-speciality hospital, expanding the campus beyond its three-decade focus on cancer care.
The facility, earlier known as Apollo Cancer Centre, has been renamed Apollo Speciality Hospitals, Teynampet.
Established in 1993, the hospital has been a major centre for tertiary and quaternary oncology care for 33 years.
While its specialised cancer services will continue, the upgraded facility will now offer comprehensive clinical and surgical care across Cardiology, Neurology and Neurosciences, Gastroenterology, Pulmonology, Spine & Orthopaedics, Urology, Critical Care and Internal Medicine.

The launch was attended by Dr K. G. Arunraj, Ex. I.R.S., Minister for Health & Family Welfare, Government of Tamil Nadu, as Chief Guest, and Dr Darez Ahamed, I.A.S., Secretary to Government, Health and Family Welfare Department, Government of Tamil Nadu, as Guest of Honour.
Dr Arunraj highlighted the importance of integrated healthcare systems for patients with complex conditions, who often require coordinated evaluation and treatment across multiple specialities. He also acknowledged Apollo Hospitals’ contribution of Rs. 1 crore to the “Nalam TN” initiative.
As part of the transformation, Apollo has expanded the facility’s diagnostic and therapeutic infrastructure. New capabilities include an advanced Cath Lab, a dedicated 24/7 stroke care unit, Tamil Nadu’s first Zoom Endoscopy system, an advanced bronchoscopy suite and a specialised Sleep Lab.
The hospital will continue to offer its existing advanced oncology services, including CyberKnife, TrueBeam, bone marrow transplantation (BMT), CAR-T cell therapy and Da Vinci robotic surgery.
Dr Preetha Reddy, Vice Chairperson, Apollo Hospitals Enterprise Limited, said the hospital’s expertise in oncology would now be extended to comprehensive healthcare for the entire family, with specialists working together around the patient to simplify increasingly complex healthcare journeys.
Suneeta Reddy, Managing Director, Apollo Hospitals Enterprise Limited, said co-locating multiple specialities would allow multidisciplinary teams to collaborate more effectively, particularly in chronic and severe conditions involving multiple organs.
Harshad Reddy, Director – Operations, Group Oncology & International, Apollo Hospitals Enterprise Limited, said the transition reflects the hospital’s expanded clinical role, bringing together cardiac sciences, neurosciences, gastrointestinal and pulmonary medicine, spine and orthopaedics, urology, critical care and internal medicine alongside its established oncology services.
