The addition of the Halcyon system represents a significant milestone in the hospital’s oncology services

Dr. L H Hiranandani Hospital, Powai, in collaboration with the International Oncology Cancer Institute (IOCI), has launched its second Advanced Radiation Therapy Unit equipped with the Halcyon™ High-End Linear Accelerator, a next-generation radiation therapy system.

The facility was inaugurated in the presence of renowned medical oncologist Dr. Padma Bhushan Advani, along with Dr. Niranjan Hiranandani, Chairman of Dr. L H Hiranandani Hospital; Dr. Sameer Kulkarni, CEO of the hospital; Dr. Pramod Sharma, COO of IOCI; and Vishal Mehta, Regional Director, West India, IOCI.

The addition of the Halcyon system represents a significant milestone in the hospital’s oncology services, expanding access to advanced cancer treatment technologies for patients across Mumbai and beyond.

The platform integrates advanced imaging, intelligent automation, and efficient treatment delivery to support highly precise radiation therapy. Its Image Guided Radiotherapy (IGRT) capabilities enable accurate tumour targeting while minimizing radiation exposure to surrounding healthy tissues.

According to the hospital, the system offers faster imaging and treatment sessions, improved workflow efficiency, reduced treatment times, and an enhanced overall patient experience. The new unit is expected to strengthen the hospital’s capacity to provide timely and high-quality cancer care.

In addition to the radiation therapy unit, the hospital also introduced a Pneumatic Chute System, a computer-controlled logistics network that enables rapid transportation of medicines, laboratory samples, blood products, documents, and other critical supplies between departments. The system is designed to reduce manual handling, improve turnaround times, and support quicker clinical decision-making.

“As we celebrate fifteen years of dedicated cancer care, we're committed to investing in advanced technologies that improve patient outcomes and elevate healthcare standards,” said Dr. Sameer Kulkarni, CEO of Dr. L H Hiranandani Hospital. “These launches reflect our continued focus on patient care, precision, and innovation.”
