Hospital located in Ashok Vihar expected to commence operations in 3–4 years with Fortis securing exclusive healthcare services rights for 29 years

Fortis Healthcare Limited has signed definitive agreements with Seth Sunder Lal Jain Charitable Eye Hospital Society to provide healthcare services at a planned 400+ bed super-specialty hospital in Ashok Vihar, North-West Delhi.

The agreements have been executed through Fortis’ wholly owned subsidiary, Fortis Hospotel Limited (FHTL). The hospital is expected to commence operations in three to four years, subject to necessary approvals.

Under the Healthcare Services Agreement, FHTL will have long-term exclusive rights to provide specified inpatient healthcare services and specialised equipment, including Cath Lab, LINAC, PET-CT and surgical robotics, in consideration of an agreed service fee payable by the SLJ Society. Fortis will also provide the necessary clinical manpower.

The agreement has a committed term of 29 years, with an option for extension on mutually agreed terms. The hospital will be owned, operated and managed by SLJ Society, while Fortis will provide healthcare services. The Society will develop the land, building and associated civil and certain medical infrastructure on approximately 3.1 acres of land.

FHTL will also provide a phased loan to the Society over the next three to four years, linked to construction progress, for the development, upgradation and operation of the hospital.

The facility will be operationalised in phases and is planned to offer tertiary and quaternary healthcare services across oncology, neurosciences, cardiac sciences, gastroenterology, orthopaedics, renal sciences, robotic surgeries and transplants. It will also provide free inpatient and outpatient treatment to eligible Economically Weaker Sections (EWS) patients in accordance with applicable regulatory and social obligations.

“The signing of the Healthcare Services Agreement with SLJ Society marks an important collaboration aimed at enhancing access to quality healthcare in North-West Delhi, an underserved micro-market characterised by a dense residential population,” said Dr Ashutosh Raghuvanshi, MD & CEO, Fortis Healthcare.

“Under this arrangement, the hospital will be owned, operated and managed by SLJ Society, with Fortis providing healthcare services pursuant to the agreement. Pursuant to this, Fortis’ services would extend to more than 3,400 beds across the Delhi-NCR region going forward,” he added.
