Noida hospital nears breakeven as Medanta records highest-ever quarterly income; company accelerates nationwide expansion with 2,950-bed pipeline
Global Health Limited, which operates the Medanta hospital network, reported its highest-ever quarterly financial performance for the quarter ended June 30, 2026, driven by strong patient volume growth, improved realizations, and steady operational expansion across its hospital network.
The company reported consolidated total income of Rs. 1,326.2 crore in Q1 FY27, up 26.2% year-on-year. EBITDA increased 23.5% to Rs. 315.3 crore, while EBITDA excluding the Noida hospital rose 23.9% to Rs. 320.1 crore with margins improving to 25.8%.
Profit after tax stood at Rs. 157.3 crore compared with Rs. 159 crore in the corresponding quarter last year, which included a one-time exceptional income of Rs. 19.6 crore.
The Noida hospital continued to show significant operational improvement, generating total income of Rs. 85.5 crore during the quarter while reducing its EBITDA loss to Rs. 4.9 crore from Rs. 23.6 crore in the previous quarter.
Pankaj Sahni, Group CEO and Director, said the company delivered its highest-ever quarterly total income and EBITDA, supported by strong patient volumes and improved realizations. He added that the Noida hospital has started making a meaningful contribution while EBITDA losses have declined significantly, and the company remains focused on expanding its network through disciplined, quality-led growth.
Operationally, Medanta added 72 new beds during the quarter, including 51 beds at Noida and 21 beds at Lucknow.
The hospital network recorded robust patient growth, with inpatient volumes rising 27.7% and outpatient volumes increasing 34.5% year-on-year. Occupied bed days grew 21.1%, while average revenue per occupied bed (ARPOB) increased 5.5% to Rs. 70,224.
The company's international business also continued to expand, with revenue from international patients increasing 23% to Rs. 78.2 crore. The OPD pharmacy business delivered strong momentum, reporting 50.9% year-on-year growth to Rs. 60.9 crore.
During the quarter, Medanta strengthened its clinical capabilities by onboarding more than 70 doctors, including over 50 senior clinicians across its network.
The company also announced an expansion of its upcoming Guwahati project, which will now house a 650-bed super-specialty hospital with an estimated investment of Rs. 970 crore, following revised building regulations.
Looking ahead, Medanta expects to operationalise its new 80-bed cancer facility in Indore in the coming months. With five greenfield projects under development, the company plans to add around 2,950 beds over the next few years, reinforcing its long-term strategy of expanding high-quality tertiary healthcare infrastructure across India.
