KIMS Hospitals, Bengaluru, has launched the KIMS RENOVA Oncology Institute, a comprehensive cancer care centre designed to deliver advanced, integrated, and patient-centric oncology services. 

 

The institute was inaugurated by VVS Laxman, Legendary Former Indian International Cricketer and Head of Cricket at the National Cricket Academy (NCA), marking a major step in strengthening cancer care infrastructure in the city.

 

The launch drew a wide gathering of healthcare leaders, oncology experts, dignitaries, cancer survivors, and community representatives, all marking what the hospital described as a new phase of innovation-led, precision-focused, and compassionate cancer treatment.

 

A key highlight of the event was the ‘Samrohana Sarathi Survivor Program’, an initiative dedicated to celebrating the resilience of cancer survivors. Under the program, cancer warriors were honoured for their journeys and for helping spread awareness and hope among patients battling the disease.

 

In a major community outreach push, KIMS RENOVA Oncology Institute, in association with the Samrohana Cancer Foundation, announced the “134 Free Screening Camp Pledge”, inspired by VVS Laxman’s 134 Test match appearances. The initiative will roll out 134 free awareness and screening camps in underserved communities, focusing on early detection and prevention.

 

The inauguration also featured a fireside chat with VVS Laxman and senior clinicians from KIMS Hospitals, including Dr. Sandeep Nayak, Chairman – Oncology & Executive Director – Surgical Oncology & Robotic Surgery, and Dr. Suresh Babu M C, Director – Medical Oncology. 

 

The discussion drew parallels between cricket and cancer care, highlighting teamwork, adaptability, and endurance as shared principles in both fields.

 

The new institute, developed in association with KIMS MACS OncoSurgery, brings together Surgical Oncology, Robotic Surgery, Medical Oncology, and multidisciplinary cancer care under one coordinated system, aiming to strengthen precision treatment and holistic patient support.
