The state-of-the-art facility is expected to be commissioned over the next three years

Max Healthcare Institute Ltd. (MHIL), one of India’s largest private healthcare providers, on Thursday announced its entry into Pune with plans to develop a 450-bed super speciality hospital, backed by an investment of over Rs. 1,000 crore.

The state-of-the-art facility will come up in Yerawada, one of Pune’s most centrally located areas, and is expected to be commissioned over the next three years. Once operational, the hospital will become Max Healthcare’s fourth facility in Western India, significantly strengthening its footprint in Maharashtra.

Commenting on the expansion, Abhay Soi, Chairman and Managing Director of Max Healthcare Institute Ltd., said, “Pune is one of India’s fastest-growing urban centers with a strong economic base and rapidly expanding middle-class population. There is a growing need for a high-end super speciality hospital equipped with state-of-the-art technology that Max Healthcare is renowned for.

"This proposed hospital will bring advanced medical care closer to patients in the region. Our entry into Pune is a strategic milestone for Max Healthcare and aligns with our long-term vision of expanding our presence in key healthcare markets across the country. We see this as first amongst the few that we intend to establish in this market.”

The project will be executed through a staggered acquisition of a 100% equity stake in Yerawada Properties Private Limited (YPPL), followed by phased development of the hospital over the next three years.
