Screening services included PSA testing for prostate cancer and Pap smear testing for cervical cancer, along with breast and oral cancer screening support.

ShardaCare Institute of Cancer Care at ShardaCare-Healthcity conducted a free multi-cancer screening camp, providing more than 100 people with cancer screening, specialist consultations and counselling on early detection.

The camp screened for breast, cervical, oral and prostate cancers, with participants receiving guidance from the hospital’s multidisciplinary Oncology team.

Screening services included PSA testing for prostate cancer and Pap smear testing for cervical cancer, along with breast and oral cancer screening support.

The initiative comes amid a significant cancer burden in India. According to GLOBOCAN 2024 estimates from the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC), released in July 2026, India recorded an estimated 1.56 million new cancer cases and 901,828 cancer deaths in 2024.

Breast cancer accounted for 15.2% of cases, followed by lip and oral cavity cancer at 13.2%, lung cancer at 7.2%, colorectal cancer at 5.3% and cervical cancer at 5.1%.

The hospital highlighted the importance of awareness, prevention and early screening, noting that several cancers can remain asymptomatic or present with subtle symptoms in their early stages.

The camp enabled participants to understand their individual risk factors, undergo appropriate screening and receive guidance on further evaluation where required.

Dr. Kousar Shah, Group CEO, ShardaCare – Healthcity & Sharda Hospital, said, “Cancer care cannot begin only after a diagnosis. It has to begin with awareness, prevention and timely screening. The response to this camp, with more than 100 people benefiting from screening and specialist consultations, demonstrates the need for accessible preventive healthcare in the community.”
