Wockhardt Hospitals distributes 300 umbrellas to street vendors under CSR Initiative

The initiative aims to provide practical protection to vendors who spend long hours outdoors during the monsoon, while also helping safeguard their merchandise and livelihoods from heavy rainfall

Wockhardt Hospitals, Mira Road, marked Raksha Bandhan with a community-focused CSR initiative, extending the festival's message of protection beyond traditional family relationships to street vendors and small traders affected by the monsoon.

Under the theme “Raksha Bandhan – Suraksha from Monsoon,” the hospital distributed 300 large umbrellas to vendors across the Mira Road–Bhayandar region.

The initiative aims to provide practical protection to vendors who spend long hours outdoors during the monsoon, while also helping safeguard their merchandise and livelihoods from heavy rainfall.

For street vendors and small traders, prolonged monsoon exposure can damage goods and disrupt daily earnings. The hospital said the umbrella distribution was intended to help them continue their work with greater safety and dignity despite challenging weather conditions.

Dr. Sushil Kumar, Centre Head, Wockhardt Hospitals, Mira Road, said Raksha Bandhan represents protection and affection and that the hospital wanted to extend the spirit of the festival to the wider community.

He said even a simple gesture such as an umbrella can make a meaningful difference for people whose livelihoods depend on working outdoors, adding that the initiative reflects the hospital's aim of creating practical social impact through its CSR activities.

The participating vendors welcomed the initiative, describing the umbrellas as useful support during the ongoing monsoon season.

The initiative highlights Wockhardt Hospitals Mira Road's focus on community welfare and socially relevant CSR activities, while demonstrating how traditional festivals can be used as an opportunity to extend support to vulnerable sections of the local community.
