The newly constituted committee will facilitate timely brain stem death certification, supporting transparent organ donation processes and expanding opportunities for patients awaiting transplants

Yashoda Medicity, one of the leading hospitals in Delhi-NCR has received formal approval from the Directorate General of Medical Education (DGME), Uttar Pradesh, for the constitution of its Brain Stem Death Certification Committee.

The approval authorizes Yashoda Medicity to conduct and certify Brain Stem Death assessments in accordance with the Transplantation of Human Organs and Tissues Act (THOTA) and prescribed medical and legal protocols.

As demand for organ transplantation continues to rise across India, the approval enhances the hospital's ability to support deceased donor programmes and facilitate organ donation processes in accordance with established legal and ethical standards.

Dr. P.N. Arora, Chairman and Managing Director, Yashoda Medicity, said, "Every successful organ transplant begins long before the surgery itself; it begins with systems that ensure clinical certainty, ethical integrity, and public trust. The constitution of the Brain Stem Death Certification Committee creates that foundation.”

Dr. R.K. Mani, Director, Clinical Services, Yashoda Medicity, said, “Brain stem death certification is one of the most important functions in critical care practice. It has crucial links with the deceased organ donation pathway combining medical science, legal norms, and ethical requirements."

"Robust frameworks such as this help ensure consistency and transparency while creating greater opportunities for patients waiting for life-saving transplants," added Dr. Mani.
