New plant to serve domestic demand and export markets, including the US and Europe
Australia-based global safety solutions company Ansell Limited is investing approximately USD 60 million in India to establish a new manufacturing facility for surgical gloves, strengthening its manufacturing footprint and long-term commitment to the Indian market.
The proposed facility is expected to cater to the growing demand for high-quality surgical gloves in India and international markets, while enhancing Ansell’s supply-chain capabilities and production capacity.
The investment reflects the company’s confidence in India’s healthcare and medical devices ecosystem and the country’s growing importance as a manufacturing destination. The new plant will complement Ansell’s existing operations in India and support its efforts to serve customers across healthcare and other critical sectors.
“The investment is primarily to cater to the domestic market and to export to the US and Europe,” said Nathalie Ahlström, MD & CEO, Ansell.
India’s healthcare sector has witnessed increasing demand for medical consumables and protective products, supported by the expansion of healthcare infrastructure, greater awareness of infection prevention and the need for high-quality medical products.
Ansell’s proposed investment comes against this backdrop and aligns with the broader growth of India’s medical manufacturing ecosystem. The facility is also expected to generate employment opportunities and contribute to the local industrial ecosystem through associated supply-chain and ancillary activities.
The investment further strengthens Ansell’s presence in India while supporting domestic manufacturing of critical healthcare and medical products and expanding the country’s role in global medical supply chains.
