Sweden's Trelleborg has planted its flag in Central America, opening a new medical manufacturing facility in Costa Rica as it accelerates its global expansion and boosts its capacity to deliver critical healthcare solutions.
The new site, located in Costa Rica’s Evolution Free Zone Industrial Park, marks the company’s first operation in the region and is designed to strengthen its worldwide supply chain with faster, nearshore production for key medical device customers.
Linda Muroski, President of Trelleborg Medical Solutions, said the move is about simplifying and speeding the path from manufacturing to market. “We want to provide customers with finished medical devices, components and assemblies in one location,” she said.
“By producing the components at a single site and moving them to assembly under one roof, we reduce freight costs and management of multiple vendors for our customers, saving them money so they can be more competitive and profitable. We are creating reliable solutions that empower our customers to deliver life-saving medical devices to patients all over the world.”
The Costa Rica facility is equipped with advanced molding, thermoplastic manufacturing, and assembly capabilities, all built to strict healthcare requirements. Cleanroom operations and reinforced quality systems aim to ensure consistent, high-precision output for Trelleborg’s global network of medical device partners.
