Bausch + Lomb Corporation has launched its new EyeGility Inserter preloaded IOL delivery system in the US, giving cataract surgeons a new tool designed to simplify lens delivery while supporting the performance of the company’s enVista intraocular lens (IOL) portfolio.

Built specifically for the enVista Aspire and upcoming enVista Envy IOLs, the EyeGility system is designed to provide smooth, controlled lens delivery through a 2.4mm incision. The inserter features a silicone soft-tipped plunger, balanced push force and one-handed operation aimed at improving procedural efficiency and surgeon comfort.

"The enVista IOL platform has long been appreciated by surgeons for its glistening-free optic and differentiated optic portfolio to suit a wide range of patients,” said Wayne Caulder, vice president and general manager, North America Surgical, Bausch + Lomb.

“The launch of EyeGility enables surgeons to continue delivering these benefits to their patients while also gaining the efficiencies and advantages offered by this preloaded IOL delivery system.”

The EyeGility inserter is now available in the U.S. with enVista Aspire preloaded IOLs. Bausch + Lomb said enVista Envy lenses preloaded into the EyeGility system are expected to become available in the coming months.

According to the company, the system allows the lens to remain on standby for up to 20 minutes from preparation to delivery, helping support workflow flexibility in the operating room. Bausch + Lomb also said the inserter is designed to provide improved comfort compared with previous company delivery systems.

“I frequently choose enVista IOLs for my patients, and in my hands, the EyeGility inserter has consistently provided a smooth, comfortable IOL delivery,” said Parag Parekh, Clearview Eye Consultants, Reynoldsville, Pa.

The launch expands Bausch + Lomb’s surgical eye care portfolio as the company continues to focus on technologies designed to improve cataract surgery outcomes and surgeon experience.
