The two-day summit, scheduled for October 27–28, 2026, will be held under the theme ‘Innovation, Digital Transformation, and Sustainability’, bringing together R&D heads, industry leaders, scientists from academia, policymakers, and technology experts to examine the evolving role of R&D in the chemicals and pharmaceutical sectors.
The panel will feature Parizad A. Elchidana, Principal Technical Consultant - Pharma, ACG Worldwide; Dr. Kiran Marthak, Director - Medical Affairs, Phase-1 and Regulatory Affairs, Veeda Life Sciences; Dr. Ravikrishna Chebolu, Distinguished Scientist and Head CSIR Innovation Complex, Mumbai; Dr. Ganesh Sangle, Vice President and Program Director – Innovation Portfolio (Drug Discovery), Alkem Laboratories; and Sachin Mishra, President, Akumentis Healthcare. The session will be moderated by Rahul Koul, Editor, Indian Pharma Post.
The session will explore how India’s pharmaceutical industry can move beyond a predominantly volume-driven, cost-competitive generics model towards a higher-value, innovation-led ecosystem. As pricing pressures and intensifying competition reshape the generics market, the discussion will examine opportunities in complex formulations, novel drug delivery systems, biologics, biosimilars, and original drug discovery.
Key discussion areas will include the shift from volume to value, the transition from cost competitiveness to value-driven innovation, R&D bottlenecks and credibility challenges, supply chain resilience and API independence, digital transformation and AI-enabled smart manufacturing, and regulatory harmonisation.
The session will also examine the investments, capabilities, and partnerships needed to strengthen India’s position in global pharmaceutical innovation. This transition will require sustained R&D investment, stronger collaboration between industry and academia, advanced manufacturing capabilities, and greater adoption of artificial intelligence and digital technologies.
The summit is supported by Platinum Partner: Detox Corporation Private Limited (DCPL); Gold Partners: Aditya Birla Chemicals, BEIL UPL University, DCM Shriram Chemicals, and Revvity Signals; Associate Partner: Calibre Chemical; and Enterprise AI Partner: Sarthak AI.
The ChemPharma R&D Summit 2026 aims to provide a high-level platform for dialogue among government, industry, and academia on the future of research, development, and innovation.
Against a backdrop of rapid technological advances, evolving regulatory expectations, and geopolitical uncertainty, the summit will focus on strengthening R&D capabilities as a strategic driver of competitiveness, resilience, sustainability, and long-term value creation across the chemicals and pharmaceutical industries.
