Cytrellis Biosystems is expanding into South Korea’s fast-growing medical aesthetics market through a new commercialization agreement for its ellacor Micro-Coring technology with KoreAx Co.
The move gives Cytrellis a foothold in one of the world’s most influential aesthetic treatment markets, where demand for minimally invasive procedures continues to rise.
Ellacor, approved by South Korea’s Ministry of Food and Drug Safety in 2025, is described by the company as the first and only FDA-cleared, minimally invasive, in-office procedure designed to remove sagging skin without surgery or thermal energy. The technology offers patients a non-surgical option for addressing skin laxity.
South Korea’s medical aesthetics market was valued at an estimated $572 million in 2023 and is projected to reach $1.1 billion by 2029, according to independent market research. The growth is being driven in part by demand for non-surgical treatments that deliver visible results with limited downtime.
"Our commercial launch in South Korea—one of the world's most advanced and high-volume aesthetic markets— is a powerful stamp of approval for the unique value of ellacor's Micro-Coring technology," said Denise Dajles, President and Chief Executive Officer of Cytrellis.
"In a market where patients and providers relentlessly pursue the most effective, innovative, and safest treatments, our technology offers a truly differentiated solution for removing skin without a scalpel or heat. This is not just an approval; it is a validation of the global consumer desire for next-generation procedures."
KoreAx will lead the local commercialization effort, bringing its experience in the aesthetics sector and network of key opinion leaders and clinics. The partnership is expected to focus on physician training, education and broader market adoption tailored to South Korea.
"The Korean commercial launch of ellacor is a timely step in line with the rising domestic demand for non-invasive aesthetic technologies," said Chang-Keun Oh, President of the Association of Korean Dermatologist.
"Already adopted in several countries including the United States, with extended indications for not just the face but also areas like the neck, abdomen, and knee, ellacor's potential for expanded indications and clinical use in Korea is drawing attention"
The South Korean launch is Cytrellis’ second major international market expansion of 2026, following its entry into Australia earlier this year.
The company said the two markets will broaden its international footprint while supporting further growth in procedure volumes and revenue.
