Manoj Joshi, Secretary of Department of Pharmaceuticals administered pledge to department officers with cleanliness drives being subsequently organised at workstations and office premises
The Department of Pharmaceuticals, Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers, observed Swachhata Pakhwada from September 1 to 15, 2026, with participation from officers and employees across the department, National Institutes of Pharmaceutical Education and Research (NIPERs) and public sector undertakings (PSUs).
The initiative was conducted in line with the vision of “Swachh Bharat, Swasth Bharat”, focusing on cleanliness, hygiene and collective responsibility for maintaining healthy surroundings.
The fortnight began with Secretary, Department of Pharmaceuticals, Manoj Joshi, administering the Swachhata pledge to department officers. Cleanliness drives were subsequently organised at workstations and office premises.
Senior officers and staff, led by Joint Secretary Aman Sharma, also undertook Shramdaan at Janpath Bhawan Market in New Delhi. The department reviewed old and redundant furniture, fixtures and electronic items for repair, disposal and systematic management, besides conducting pest-control activities.
All seven NIPERs participated in the campaign through campus cleanliness drives involving faculty, students and staff. Plantation activities were also undertaken at select campuses. PSUs under the department conducted cleanliness initiatives at their respective locations.
The Pharmaceuticals & Medical Devices Bureau of India extended the campaign to its office premises and Jan Aushadhi Kendras across the country. The department said the activities reinforced the importance of clean surroundings as a component of public health and well-being.
