Exclusive Asia-Pacific licensing agreement for Bejescin strengthens the company’s nephrology and autoimmune disease portfolio

Everest Medicines has entered into an exclusive commercialization and development agreement with Beijing Mabworks Biotech for Bejescin (MIL62, Obinutuzumab beta Injection) across key Asia-Pacific markets.

The markets include India, Southeast Asia, South Korea, Australia, New Zealand, Hong Kong, Macau, and Taiwan.

Under the agreement, Everest Medicines will pay Mabworks an upfront fee of RMB 23 million and potential sales milestone payments of up to RMB 186 million, while Mabworks will also receive a share of regional gross profits.

The partnership strengthens Everest’s nephrology and autoimmune disease portfolio and supports its strategy to expand innovative therapies across the Asia-Pacific region.

The company plans to leverage its clinical development and commercialization capabilities to accelerate Bejescin’s regional development and market access.

Bejescin is a third-generation anti-CD20 monoclonal antibody approved in China in February 2026 for neuromyelitis optica spectrum disorder (NMOSD), making it the first CD20-targeted therapy globally approved for the condition.

The drug is also under priority review in China for primary membranous nephropathy (PMN), where it has the potential to become the world’s first approved targeted therapy. Additionally, it is being evaluated in Phase III clinical trials for systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) and follicular lymphoma.

Yifang Wu, Chairman of Everest Medicines, said the agreement enhances the company’s presence in nephrology and autoimmune diseases while expanding patient access to a promising therapy with strong clinical potential.

Mabworks President Luning Chen noted that the partnership would accelerate Bejescin’s commercial reach across Asia-Pacific markets and help bring innovative treatment options to patients with renal and autoimmune disorders.
