As part of the collaboration, Gland Pharma will establish a dedicated sterile manufacturing suite for APIs used in microparticle depot products at its JNPC facility in Visakhapatnam
Gland Pharma Ltd. and Neuland Laboratories Ltd. have entered into a long-term strategic contract development and manufacturing organisation (CDMO) partnership to strengthen their capabilities in the development and commercial manufacturing of sterile active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs) for microparticle depot products and other complex injectable therapies.
As part of the collaboration, Gland Pharma will establish a dedicated sterile manufacturing suite for APIs used in microparticle depot products at its JNPC facility in Visakhapatnam.
The partnership combines Neuland's expertise in complex API development, process chemistry and custom manufacturing with Gland Pharma's proven capabilities in sterile manufacturing and regulatory compliance to serve the growing global demand for complex sterile APIs.
The new facility will be built and operated in compliance with current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP) as well as USFDA and European Union regulatory standards, leveraging Gland Pharma's expertise in aseptic manufacturing. Together, the companies will offer an integrated CDMO solution spanning process development, scale-up, regulatory support and commercial manufacturing of sterile APIs.
The manufacturing suite is expected to add approximately 1,400 kg of annual production capacity, providing flexibility to manufacture multiple sterile products while supporting future capacity expansion. The collaboration is also expected to strengthen global supply resilience by combining Neuland's development and regulatory expertise with Gland Pharma's large-scale sterile manufacturing capabilities.
