Healthium Medtech is all set to play a larger role in Andhra Pradesh’s medical devices value chain -- through an investment of Rs. 150-crore in Sri City that will generate as many as 400 jobs.

The company signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Andhra Pradesh Economic Development Board (APEDB). Under this MoU, Healthium will set up Healthium Medtech Unit 2 across 5 acres in Sri City Industrial Park, Sri City in two phases.

Spread across five acres in the Sri City Industrial Park, the upcoming 'Healthium Medtech Unit 2' will be developed in two phases and marks a major expansion of the company’s presence in the region.

Healthium, which began operations in Sri City’s SEZ in 2012, currently manufactures sutures and meshes. The new unit will bolster its capabilities across surgical, post-surgical, advanced wound care and chronic care product lines — strengthening Sri City’s growing status as a competitive medtech manufacturing hub.

The project is expected to generate 300 direct jobs by 2027, in addition to roughly 100 indirect opportunities across logistics, supply chain, services and ancillary units, the company said in a statement.

The expansion comes as India’s medtech sector moves toward a projected US$30-billion market size by 2030, driving demand for advanced manufacturing capacity and highly skilled labour.

"With our increasing footprint and the requirement for a stronger manufacturing base, the decision to establish this new unit in Sri City is driven by the rising need for resilient, high-quality manufacturing in the medtech space,” said Anish Bafna, CEO and Managing Director, Healthium Medtech.

He added that the region’s industrial readiness, connectivity and skilled labour pool provide a strong foundation to scale production while integrating more deeply with suppliers.

Healthium’s Group CFO, Sudeep Dhariwal, called the move a “disciplined, long-term capital allocation decision,” noting that expanding within Sri City enables the company to optimise costs, improve operational efficiency and plan capacity aligned with future market needs.

APEDB CEO, CM Saikanth Varma, said the project reinforces Sri City’s position as a preferred destination for advanced medical device manufacturing and strengthens the broader industrial ecosystem.

Sri City Founder Managing Director, Dr Ravindra Sannareddy, said that Healthium’s expansion is a “resounding affirmation” of the region’s ability to help global-scale manufacturers grow and compete.
