IMCD Group, a global distributor of specialty chemicals and ingredients, has officially opened its expanded Life Science Laboratory hub in Shanghai. The facility supports innovation in the pharmaceutical, food, and personal care sectors across China and the Asia-Pacific region.
Located within the East China University of Science & Technology campus, the hub features upgraded laboratories for Beauty & Personal Care, Pharmaceuticals, and Food & Nutrition, encouraging collaboration across industries and with the university.
IMCD’s global network includes over 80 technical centres that help co-develop solutions with customers and suppliers, speeding up product development and addressing complex formulation needs.
The food & nutrition laboratory focuses on dairy, bakery, and savoury applications. Services include custom product development, ready-to-use kits, technical training, and support for production optimization across China.
The pharmaceuticals laboratory supports North Asia with formulation development, reverse engineering, troubleshooting, and analysis for various dosage forms (solid, liquid, semi-solid). Offers internal and external training and specialised services like rheological and chemical analysis.
The beauty & personal care laboratory covers formulation for China and efficacy testing across Asia-Pacific. Serves skincare, sun care, hair care, toiletries, and cosmetics. Includes sun protection testing, skin diagnostics, a Beauty Studio for brand collaboration, and a hair salon for real-use product testing.
