New clinical-stage company to advance PRMT5 and SOS1 cancer programmes through global clinical development
Global pharmaceutical company Lupin Limited has announced the strategic spin-out of two of its oncology drug candidates into Kaveri Therapeutics Inc., a newly established U.S.-based clinical-stage oncology company, to accelerate their global clinical development.
The transaction involves LNP7457, a PRMT5 inhibitor, and LNP8701, a SOS1 inhibitor, which have been transferred through Lupin's wholly owned subsidiary, Lupin Inc.
Under the agreement, Lupin Inc. will retain a significant equity stake in Kaveri Therapeutics, provide seed funding and grant the company exclusive rights to develop the two programmes.
Kaveri Therapeutics will operate as an independent company under the leadership of Chief Executive Officer Kristi Jones and Chief Medical Officer Dr. Robert Pierce, who will oversee the clinical development strategy for the oncology pipeline.
The company plans to raise additional capital to support global clinical trials and further development of both investigational therapies.
According to Lupin, both programmes have demonstrated encouraging clinical progress. LNP7457 (PRMT5)presented positive clinical data at the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) Annual Meeting 2025, while LNP8701 (SOS1) reported positive findings at the ASCO Annual Meeting 2026.
