Hyderabad-based healthcare platform Quality Care India Limited (QCIL) has inked a major deal with global surgical technology leader Intuitive to rapidly expand robotic-assisted surgery across its hospital network, marking a significant push to bring cutting-edge care to smaller cities.
Under a newly signed Memorandum of Understanding, QCIL will roll out robotic-assisted surgery systems across its multi-brand network—including CARE Hospitals, KIMSHEALTH, and Evercare Hospitals—through a phased, multi-system installation plan. The move is aimed squarely at expanding access to advanced minimally invasive procedures in tier 2 and tier 3 markets.
The partnership signals a broader strategic shift: taking high-end surgical infrastructure beyond India’s biggest cities. Robotic-assisted procedures will be scaled across specialties ranging from thoracic and transplant surgeries to urology, gynaecology, oncology, and general surgery.
“Scaling robotic-assisted surgery across centres requires a structured approach that strengthens clinical capability and programme consistency," said Varun Khanna, Group Managing Director of Quality Care India.
"Through this collaboration, we will focus on building readiness across teams and specialties so that more patients can access advanced minimally invasive care closer to home as we expand into tier 2 and tier 3 markets. This initiative reflects our commitment to delivering world-class surgical infrastructure beyond metropolitan cities and improving access to high-end clinical interventions across India,”
For Intuitive, the deal deepens its footprint in one of the world’s fastest-growing healthcare markets.
“We are pleased to collaborate with QCIL as they expand robotic-assisted surgery capabilities across their hospital network in the region. By combining our strengths, we aim to broaden patient access to advanced minimally invasive care, enabling faster recoveries and helping patients return sooner to what matters most in their lives.
"We are honored to partner with QCIL’s visionary leadership, whose commitment to innovation and patient-centric care aligns strongly with our shared mission to make a meaningful impact on the lives of patients across the region,” said Rohitt Mahajan of the company.
Beyond equipment deployment, Intuitive will also provide training, technical support, and ongoing programme development to surgeons and care teams—critical to ensuring consistent outcomes as robotic surgery scales across diverse regions.
India’s robotic surgery ecosystem is already gaining momentum. More than 200 da Vinci systems are installed nationwide, with over 1,500 surgeons trained in robotic-assisted procedures. Globally, the widely used da Vinci platform has been part of over 16.9 million procedures, backed by tens of thousands of peer-reviewed studies.
The QCIL–Intuitive alliance now aims to build on that momentum—creating a structured, scalable model for robotic surgery that blends technology, training, and clinical oversight, while bringing precision care closer to patients who have historically had limited access.
