The three-day conference is expected to bring together more than 3,000 physiotherapists, clinicians, researchers, academicians, and students

The SRM Institute of Science and Technology (SRMIST) is set to host a major global academic and clinical gathering: the International Physiotherapy Conference 2026 (IPC 2026) alongside the SRM International Hand Conclave 2026, from April 16 to 18, 2026, at its Kattankulathur campus.

Organised by the SRM College of Physiotherapy under the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, the three-day conference is expected to bring together more than 3,000 physiotherapists, clinicians, researchers, academicians, and students from around the world, positioning the event as one of the largest gatherings in the physiotherapy and rehabilitation space this year.

The conference aims to advance physiotherapy education and practice through global collaboration, innovation, and academic excellence, with a strong focus on preparing future-ready physiotherapists by integrating sustainability, professional values, and international standards into both education and clinical care.

An eminent panel of globally recognised experts is scheduled to participate, including Dr. Raja Sabapathy, Chairman, Division of Plastic Surgery, Ganga Hospital, and President of the International Federation of Societies for Surgery of the Hand; Prof. Sallie Lamb, Pro-Vice-Chancellor and Executive Dean, Faculty of Health and Life Sciences, University of Exeter; Dr. Esther Williamson, Senior Research Fellow, University of Oxford and University of Exeter; Dr. Cynthia Swarnalatha, Senior Research Fellow, University of Oxford and University of Exeter; and Dr. Asmare Yitayeh Gelaw, epidemiologist at the National Centre for Healthy Ageing and Adjunct Research Fellow at Monash University, Australia.

Running in parallel, the SRM International Hand Conclave 2026 will place a spotlight on the latest advances in hand rehabilitation and upper limb therapy under the theme “Re-Hand”, aimed at encouraging clinicians and therapists to reflect, re-learn, and re-imagine rehabilitation approaches in a rapidly evolving healthcare environment.

The event will feature keynote addresses by leading national and international experts, scientific paper presentations, panel discussions, and specialised sessions focused on emerging trends in physiotherapy, rehabilitation sciences, and hand therapy. It is also designed to create a strong interdisciplinary platform for learning, collaboration, and professional networking across clinical and academic communities.

With its emphasis on innovation, ethics, sustainability, and global perspectives, the combined IPC and International Hand Conclave 2026 is expected to play a significant role in shaping the future of physiotherapy education, rehabilitation research, and evidence-based clinical excellence at an international level.
