EBITDA surges 72%; Revenue growth outlook raised to 19-20%

Piramal Pharma has raised its FY27 revenue growth outlook to 19-20% after delivering strong first-half growth, with second-quarter revenue surging 28% year-on-year and EBITDA jumping 72%, driven by robust demand across its businesses, higher capacity utilisation and tighter cost controls.

The pharmaceutical and healthcare company reported consolidated revenue from operations of Rs 2,617 crore in Q2FY27, up from Rs 2,044 crore a year earlier. Revenue for the first half of FY27 rose 23% to Rs 4,887 crore from Rs 3,977 crore in the corresponding period last year.

Profitability improved sharply, with EBITDA climbing to Rs 385 crore in the September quarter from Rs 224 crore a year earlier. For H1FY27, EBITDA rose to Rs 669 crore from Rs 389 crore, marking a 72% increase in both periods.

EBITDA margin expanded to 14.7% in Q2FY27 from 11% a year earlier, while the first-half margin improved to 13.7% from 9.8%.

Despite the strong operating performance, consolidated profit after tax (PAT) stood at Rs 5 crore in Q2FY27, against a loss of Rs 99 crore in the year-ago quarter. For H1FY27, the company reported a net loss of Rs 64 crore, narrowing from Rs 181 crore a year earlier.

Piramal Pharma's contract development and manufacturing organisation (CDMO) business emerged as the key growth driver, with Q2 revenue rising 36% to Rs 1,424 crore. H1 revenue from the business increased 28% to Rs 2,611 crore.

The Complex Hospital Generics (CHG) business also delivered strong growth, with quarterly revenue climbing 32% to Rs 849 crore and first-half revenue rising 24% to Rs 1,592 crore.

Consumer Healthcare (PCH) reported a more modest but steady performance, with Q2 revenue increasing 13% to Rs 359 crore and H1 revenue growing 14% to Rs 706 crore.

The company attributed the sharp improvement in profitability to higher capacity utilisation, operating leverage, disciplined execution and sustained cost optimisation initiatives.

Building on its first-half performance and continued business momentum, Piramal Pharma has upgraded its FY27 revenue growth outlook to 19-20%, signalling expectations of stronger full-year performance and meaningfully higher profitability.

The company also reported healthy customer engagement and business development activity during H1FY27, adding 22 new customers and completing 110 customer audits.

On the regulatory front, Piramal Pharma successfully completed 12 regulatory inspections during the first half. The company said it maintained its track record of no Official Action Indicated (OAI) classifications across US Food and Drug Administration inspections.

Nandini Piramal, Chairperson, Piramal Pharma Limited said, “We delivered a strong H1FY27, with revenue growth of 23% and EBITDA margin expansion of over 350 basis points, driven by healthy demand across our businesses, disciplined execution, and improved operating leverage.

"The performance was led by our CDMO business, which grew 28% on the back of strong order inflows and robust execution. Our CHG business complemented this momentum with 24% growth, supported by inhalation anesthesia sales in ex-US markets and the integration of the Kenalog, while Consumer Healthcare continued to deliver steady 14% growth through the strong performance of Power Brands and e-commerce.

"With H2 typically stronger than H1, we are well positioned to deliver a strong full-year performance, supported by a healthy order book, encouraging customer engagement, and continued operating discipline.”
