Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. reported consolidated sales of Rs. 15,183.6 crore for the first quarter ended June 30, 2026, registering a 10.1% year-on-year growth, driven by strong performance in its India business and continued momentum in its Global Innovative Medicines portfolio.

The company's EBITDA stood at Rs. 4,417.7 crore, up 2.7% from the corresponding quarter last year, with an EBITDA margin of 28.9%. Adjusted net profit increased 3.1% year-on-year to Rs. 3,089.4 crore, while research and development (R&D) investment during the quarter was Rs. 826.4 crore, representing 5.4% of sales.

Kirti Ganorkar, Managing Director of Sun Pharmaceutical Industries, said the quarter's performance was driven by robust growth in India and the company's Innovative Medicines business across the U.S. and international markets.

He added that recent approvals for semaglutide in India, Brazil and South Africa highlight Sun Pharma's capabilities in developing complex peptide products. Ganorkar also said Organon shareholders have approved the proposed acquisition by Sun Pharma, which remains on track for completion in early 2027.

The India formulations business continued to be the company's strongest growth driver, with sales rising 16% year-on-year to Rs. 5,474.9 crore, contributing 36.1% of consolidated revenue.

Sun Pharma retained its position as India's largest pharmaceutical company, increasing its market share to 8.5% from 8.2%, according to the Pharmarack MAT June 2026 report. The company also launched five new products in the domestic market during the quarter.

In the United States, formulation sales stood at US$ 427 million, down 9.7% year-on-year, as continued growth in Innovative Medicines partially offset weakness in the generics business. U.S. sales contributed 26.6% of consolidated revenue.

Emerging Markets formulation sales grew 4.2% to US$ 311 million, accounting for 19.4% of total sales, while Rest of World formulation sales reached US$ 218 million, contributing 13.6% of consolidated revenue.

Sun Pharma's Global Innovative Medicines business delivered another strong quarter, with sales rising 12.8% year-on-year to US$ 351 million, representing 21.9% of consolidated revenue. The Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients (API) business also recorded healthy growth, with external sales increasing 10.5% to Rs. 597.2 crore.

The company continued to strengthen its innovation pipeline, with five novel drug candidates currently in clinical development. During the quarter, Sun Pharma filed three Abbreviated New Drug Applications (ANDAs) with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and received approvals for six ANDAs.

The company now has 558 approved ANDAs, while 119 applications, including 28 tentative approvals, remain under review. Sun Pharma also has 57 approved New Drug Applications (NDAs), with 13 NDAs awaiting U.S. FDA approval.
