PAT jumps 25.7% to Rs 60.2 crore

Thyrocare Technologies has delivered a strong performance in the second quarter of FY27, reporting a 25.1% year-on-year (YoY) jump in consolidated revenue to Rs 270.8 crore, powered by sustained growth in its Pathology business.

The company’s EBITDA climbed 24.9% YoY to Rs 89.3 crore, while profit after tax (PAT), before exceptional items, surged 25.7% to Rs 60.2 crore, reflecting its continued focus on operational efficiency and profitable growth.

Pathology remained the key growth engine, expanding 26.7% year-on-year. Revenue from the franchise network rose 26.9%, while partnership revenue increased 27.9%, highlighting strong traction across the company's distribution channels.

India’s largest diagnostic test volume processor, Thyrocare further consolidated its market position during the quarter, processing 61.6 million tests, a 27.4% increase over the corresponding period last year.

The company also reported improvements in operational quality, maintaining Six Sigma-level performance. Customer complaints fell 24% year-on-year to just 2.9 per million tests, while the average turnaround time (ATAT) stood at 3.49 hours from sample receipt.

In a strategic move to streamline its portfolio and unlock capital for higher-growth opportunities, Thyrocare is seeking shareholders’ approval for the proposed divestment of its Nuclear Imaging business, NHL.

The company has issued a postal ballot to secure approval for the proposed transaction, which will allow it to concentrate resources on its Pathology business, where it sees stronger growth prospects, higher margins and better return on capital employed (ROCE).

As part of the proposed sale, the company has recognised a one-time, non-cash impairment charge of Rs 45 crore relating to NHL in its consolidated financial statements, following the execution of a definitive term sheet for the proposed divestment. Thyrocare clarified that the charge has no bearing on its operational performance.

Beyond its core Pathology business, Thyrocare is accelerating its expansion into specialty diagnostics, marking a new phase in its growth strategy.

After entering allergy testing and genomics, including the launch of Non-Invasive Prenatal Testing (NIPT), the company is progressively widening its specialty test portfolio. The focus remains on building clinical trust through scientific rigour, uncompromising quality and industry-leading turnaround times.

The company has also stepped up its consumer-facing initiatives with the launch of a Pregnancy Test Kit, a rapid home-testing solution that delivers results in five minutes. Thyrocare claims it is the first such kit in India backed by a confirmatory laboratory test.

To strengthen consumer awareness and expand its reach, the company has onboarded actress Yami Gautam as the product’s brand ambassador. The product has been launched with support from API Holdings group company Ascent and is already available across more than 10,000 chemist outlets.

Commenting on the performance and growth strategy, Rahul Guha, Managing Director and CEO of Thyrocare Technologies Ltd, said: "Thyrocare reported a strong performance this quarter, driven by continued focus on operational efficiency, network expansion, and value-driven diagnostics. During the period, we also strengthened our specialty portfolio with the addition of allergy testing and entry into genomics through the launch of NIPT, with a phased expansion of the test menu underway.

"Thyrocare continues to expand its reach in underserved regions and scale its franchise and partner network, while remaining committed to delivering high-quality, affordable healthcare services across India. I am particularly excited about our foray into Point of Care devices with a unique proposition and soon hope to be present in all major chemist outlets.”
