Biocon appoints Karthik SM as Head HR for India, Malaysia and Emerging Markets

In his new role, Karthik will lead human capital strategy and HR operations across these regions

Biocon has appointed Karthik SM as Head HR – India, Malaysia and Emerging Markets, strengthening its people leadership across key growth geographies as the biopharmaceutical major sharpens its global talent agenda. 

In his new role, Karthik will lead human capital strategy and HR operations across India, Malaysia and other emerging markets, with a focus on talent transformation, employee engagement and organisational effectiveness.

Karthik transitions into the expanded mandate after serving in leadership roles at Biocon Biologics, where he was HR Head for Global Operations and later Global Head of Talent Acquisition, helping shape workforce strategies for the company’s fast-scaling biosimilars business. 

Before joining Biocon, he held senior HR leadership positions at IQVIA and Accenture, building deep expertise in talent strategy, large-scale hiring and HR transformation across global markets. 

The appointment comes at a strategically significant time for Biocon as it continues to integrate and expand its global businesses, with talent capability expected to play a central role in scaling operations across emerging markets
