Shashwat Goenka takes over as Vice President of industry body
The newly constituted National Council of the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) has elected its new office bearers for 2026-27, with R Mukundan assuming office as President for the year 2026-27. He succeeds Rajiv Memani in the role.
Mukundan is currently the Managing Director & CEO of Tata Chemicals Limited. He served as President-designate of CII for 2025-26 and earlier chaired the CII Western Region during 2013-14. He has also chaired CII’s Institute of Quality Advisory Council, National Committee on Environment, and National Committee of Industrial Relations in 2023.
Meanwhile, Suchitra K Ella has taken over as CII President-Designate for 2026-27. She is the Co-Founder and Managing Director of Bharat Biotech International Limited and played a key role in establishing the company in 1996.
Over the past decade, Dr Ella has co-founded and nurtured ventures in veterinary sciences, agri-biotech parks, food processing, pre-clinical toxicology, and research institutions. In 2022, she was conferred the Padma Bhushan for her contributions to society and industry. She previously served as Chairperson of CII Southern Region during 2022-23, Founder Chairperson of CII’s Indian Women’s Network from 2013 to 2015, and Chairperson of CII Andhra Pradesh State in 2012-13.
Shashwat Goenka has taken over as CII Vice President for 2026-27. Goenka currently serves as Vice-Chairman of the RP-Sanjiv Goenka Group. He was named a Young Global Leader by the World Economic Forum in 2024 and has received several recognitions including Hurun India Next Gen Leader of the Year (2024) and Fortune’s 40 Under 40 (2023).
Goenka recently served as Chairman of the CII Eastern Regional Council and also holds the position of Honorary Consul of Finland in Kolkata.
