The Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) has announced the appointment of new office bearers for its National Pharmaceutical Committee.

Shreehas Tambe, Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director of Biocon, has been appointed as Chairman of the CII National Pharmaceutical Committee for the forthcoming term. Joining him as Co-Chairmen are Amitabh Dube, Country President of Novartis India, and Sheetal Arora, Chief Executive Officer and Whole-Time Director of Mankind Pharma Ltd.

According to CII, the National Pharmaceutical Committee will serve as a strategic platform to drive policy advocacy, foster innovation, strengthen collaboration between industry and regulators, and further enhance India's reputation as the "pharmacy of the world."

Under the leadership of Tambe, Dube, and Arora, the committee is expected to focus on building a resilient, research-driven, patient-centric, and globally competitive pharmaceutical ecosystem.

Key priorities are likely to include accelerating pharmaceutical innovation, promoting investments in research and development, strengthening regulatory frameworks, improving healthcare access, and supporting sustainable industry growth.

The committee's agenda assumes greater significance as India seeks to move up the pharmaceutical value chain through increased investments in novel drug development, biologics, advanced therapies, digital health technologies, and global clinical research.

Industry leaders are also expected to work closely with policymakers to address emerging challenges related to supply chain resilience, quality standards, intellectual property, talent development, and global market access.
