Anil Matai, Director General, OPPI calls for structured and regular engagement between regulators and industry to strengthen trust, transparency, and collaboration within India’s pharma regulatory ecosystem

The Organisation of Pharmaceutical Producers of India (OPPI) has welcomed the Central Drugs Standard Control Organisation’s (CDSCO) decision to institutionalize Quarterly Stakeholder Meetings under the chairmanship of the Drugs Controller General (India).

Anil Matai, Director General, OPPI, said that structured and regular engagement between regulators and industry will strengthen trust, transparency, and collaboration within India’s pharmaceutical regulatory ecosystem.

“OPPI warmly welcomes CDSCO’s initiative to institutionalize Quarterly Stakeholder Meetings under the chairmanship of the Drugs Controller General (India). Structured, recurring engagement of this kind strengthens the trust and transparency that must underpin India’s regulatory ecosystem,” said Mr. Matai.

He highlighted that as the pharmaceutical industry continues to invest in research-driven and innovative therapies to address evolving healthcare needs, a predictable and collaborative regulatory dialogue will be critical.

Such platforms, he noted, will enable industry and regulators to align emerging scientific advancements with regulatory expectations at an early stage.

Matai added that OPPI looks forward to constructive discussions with CDSCO and believes the platform can play an important role in accelerating the translation of innovation into accessible healthcare solutions for patients across India.
