Danone India has partnered with the Department of Family Health and Welfare, Government of Uttar Pradesh, to launch a large-scale Iron Deficiency Anaemia (IDA) and Protein Malnutrition Awareness Project across Lucknow, Siddharthnagar, and Shravasti.

The initiative aims to address two critical public health challenges—iron deficiency anaemia and protein malnutrition through a combination of awareness campaigns, early screening, and community-level interventions.

The programme is being implemented in collaboration with Grow Well Foundation and is expected to expand in a phased manner.

Aligned with the Government of India’s Anemia Mukt Bharat mission, the project will focus on early detection and prevention. Over 100,000 children are set to undergo non-invasive anaemia screening, while more than 2,000 health workers will be trained to conduct screenings and promote awareness on balanced nutrition. Additionally, around 250,000 students will be reached through school-based engagement programmes.

Shashi Ranjan, Managing Director, Danone India, said the initiative reflects the company’s commitment to supporting national nutrition priorities through science-led interventions and partnerships. He emphasised the importance of early awareness and prevention in improving long-term health outcomes among children.

Dr. H. D. Aggarwal, Director General, Family Welfare, Uttar Pradesh, highlighted that tackling anaemia and malnutrition remains a key priority for the state, particularly given its long-term impact on child development. He noted that collaborations with organisations like Danone India can help strengthen community-level detection and awareness efforts.
