BIRAC showcases India's biotech and assistive tech start-ups at Bharatiya Vyapar Mahotsav 2026

Government-backed innovation council spotlights homegrown medtech ventures, from robotic exoskeletons to bionic hands, as part of a dedicated pavilion at Bharat Mandapam


The Biotechnology Industry Research Assistance Council (BIRAC), a Public Sector Enterprise under the Department of Biotechnology, Government of India, is showcasing its innovation and start-up ecosystem at a dedicated pavilion during the Bharatiya Vyapar Mahotsav (BVM) 2026, running from August 12-15, 2026 at Bharat Mandapam, Pragati Maidan, New Delhi. 

Organised jointly by the Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT) and the India Trade Promotion Organisation (ITPO), BVM 2026 is one of the country's largest platforms celebrating "Made in India, Made for India, Made for the World," bringing together traders, MSMEs, manufacturers, institutions, investors and policymakers from across the country.

The BIRAC pavilion gives visitors, investors, industry leaders and the public a chance to engage directly with some of India's most promising biotech and medtech innovators, and to see how BIRAC's network of schemes, funding instruments and enabling infrastructure helps translate laboratory research into affordable, market-ready products.

Dr. Dhananjay Kumar Tiwary, Managing Director of BIRAC, said the organisation's role has always gone beyond funding, extending to de-risking the innovation journey for India's biotech entrepreneurs by connecting them to capital, infrastructure, mentorship and markets at every stage. 

Among the ventures featured is Reconstructive Healthcare Solutions Pvt. Ltd. (RHS), founded in 2018 by a maxillofacial surgeon. The ISO 13485-certified medtech company specialises in virtual surgical planning and 3D-printed anatomical models, surgical guides, splints, and dental and orthopaedic implants, operating out of a newly commissioned GMP facility at IMT Faridabad, Haryana.

GenElek Technologies, a deep-tech medical robotics company incubated at IIT Delhi, develops intelligent robotic exoskeletons for gait training and mobility rehabilitation. Its flagship product, the Sencibel Robotic Gait Trainer, is a lower-limb robotic exoskeleton offering multiple training modes, real-time monitoring and detailed analytics for individuals with neurological and musculoskeletal impairments.

Exobot Dynamics Pvt. Ltd., also incubated at IIT Delhi and backed by BIRAC, AIC, IHFC, SACC, NCPEDP, DST and FICCI-Mercedes Benz, builds advanced upper-limb prosthetics and wearable robotic systems. Its flagship product, GripX, is a lightweight myoelectric prosthetic hand designed for Indian clinical workflows. 

Rymo Technologies Pvt. Ltd., founded in 2020, has built a connected neuro-rehabilitation ecosystem combining robotics, VR, AI and electrical stimulation. Its product suite — Mobi-L, Mend, Nudge, Aura XR and Pulse FES — has been installed at 779 sites across 612 clinics and hospitals, including AIIMS, Apollo, Sakra and Manipal. 

Translead Medtech Pvt. Ltd., a Bengaluru-based medical device company, has developed Stand at Eaze, an unpowered assistive chair that helps users sit and stand using a compliant hinge mechanism licensed exclusively from more than a decade of biomechanics research at the Indian Institute of Science. The device is CDSCO-registered as a Class A medical device, with clinical evaluation currently underway at partner hospitals.

Torchit Pvt. Ltd., an award-winning social technology company, designs and deploys assistive technologies including the Saarthi Smart Mobility Aid, the Jyoti AI ecosystem (AI Vision Glasses and AI Reader), braille technologies and the Saksharta Inclusive Education Kit. Working with government bodies, NGOs, hospitals and CSR partners, Torchit has impacted more than 2 million lives across India and other emerging markets.
