The partnership aims to generate critical clinical evidence, strengthen domestic capabilities in advanced therapeutics and make cutting-edge cancer treatments more accessible and affordable for Indian patients
Immuneel Therapeutics, an Indian cell and gene therapy company, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Tata Memorial Centre (TMC) to accelerate clinical and translational research in advanced cell and gene therapies, strengthening India's capabilities in next-generation cancer treatment.
The collaboration brings together Immuneel's expertise in cell therapy development and manufacturing with TMC's extensive clinical and research capabilities in oncology to drive innovation in immunotherapy and precision medicine.
Under the MoU, the two organisations will collaborate on clinical research, translational science, manufacturing expansion, policy development and educational initiatives aimed at accelerating the development of advanced cell and gene therapies while improving access for patients with difficult-to-treat cancers.
The partnership will also establish a strategic framework for future projects focused on advancing indigenous innovation, strengthening India's oncology research ecosystem and improving patient outcomes.
Dr. Navin Khattry, Deputy Director, Clinical Services – ACTREC, Tata Memorial Centre, said, “India stands at an important inflection point in the evolution of advanced therapeutics, and collaborations such as this are critical to building a globally competitive innovation ecosystem.”
“Our partnership with Immuneel reflects a shared commitment to accelerating cutting-edge cell and gene therapy research while ensuring that transformative cancer treatments become more accessible to patients in India. By combining scientific innovation, clinical excellence, and indigenous capabilities, we hope to create meaningful impact in the future of oncology care," he said.
Amit Mookim, Board Director and CEO, Immuneel Therapeutics said, "This collaboration with Tata Memorial Centre is an important milestone in Immuneel's mission to advance patient-centric cell and gene therapies from India for the world.
“The partnership enables us to work closely with one of the country's foremost oncology institutions to accelerate clinical research, strengthen translational science, and expand the development of innovative therapies for patients with complex and relapsed cancers. Together, we aim to build a strong foundation for next-generation cancer care and contribute to the long-term growth of India's advanced therapeutics landscape," he said.
Among the first projects identified under the collaboration is a Phase II extension study evaluating IMN-003A, Immuneel's CAR-T cell therapy, in adult and paediatric patients with relapsed or refractory CD19-positive B-cell malignancies. The partners also plan to initiate a Phase I/II clinical trial of IMN-006 cell therapy for patients with relapsed or refractory multiple myeloma.
