Accreditation covers MRI, CT, PET-CT, ultrasound, pathology and other diagnostic services; company claims only active NABL-accredited PET-CT facility in Chennai
Gemini Scans, a Chennai-based diagnostic imaging centre with more than 19 years of operations, has secured National Accreditation Board for Testing and Calibration Laboratories (NABL) accreditation for its imaging and pathology services across five centres in the city.
The accreditation covers Gemini Scans’ centres in Aminjikarai, Vadapalani, Adyar, Mogappair and Ambattur.
The accredited scope includes MRI, CT, PET-CT, ultrasound, Doppler, echocardiography, X-ray, digital mammography and blood tests, among other diagnostic services.
According to the organisation, Gemini Scans is currently the only centre in Chennai with an active NABL-accredited PET-CT facility.
The accreditation comes as NABL certification gains importance in the healthcare referral ecosystem, with NABL-accredited public and private hospitals increasingly preferring accredited diagnostic centres for advanced investigations such as PET-CT and MRI.
For patients, the accreditation provides an additional layer of independent validation of the quality systems and technical processes followed by the diagnostic provider.
Dr. Godwin Jeeva, Director, Gemini Scans, said, “NABL accreditation is an important certification of the quality systems and protocols that we have consistently followed at Gemini Scans. For patients, it brings an additional level of confidence in the accuracy, consistency and reliability of their imaging reports.
With PET-CT and other advanced imaging modalities now covered under our accredited scope, this milestone also strengthens our ability to serve patients and referring clinicians who increasingly seek quality-assured diagnostic services.”
NABL evaluates laboratories and diagnostic facilities against established quality and technical requirements. Accreditation indicates that equipment monitoring, process documentation, quality checks and reporting systems are subject to defined standards and independent assessment.
The accredited scope also includes AI-enabled capabilities integrated into imaging equipment, including calcium scoring, automated vessel tracking and radiation dose reduction, further extending the quality framework around advanced diagnostic imaging.
Gemini Scans said the expansion of NABL accreditation across its Chennai network is aimed at making quality-assured imaging services accessible to a wider patient population and supporting referring institutions seeking accredited facilities for advanced investigations.
