IDA's Hyderabad Dental Convention to focus on sports dentistry, digital innovations

Two-day convention on on July 25-26, 2026 at HITEX to bring together over 6,000 delegates, 250 exhibitors and leading experts to discuss emerging trends in oral healthcare


The Indian Dental Association (IDA) will host the Hyderabad Dental Convention (HDC) 2026 on July 25-26, 2026, at the HITEX Exhibition Centre, Hyderabad, bringing together more than 6,000 dental professionals, academicians, researchers, students and industry leaders from across the country.

The convention, themed "Connecting Minds, Advancing Dentistry," will be inaugurated by Damodar Raja Narsimha, Minister for Health & Family Welfare and Science & Technology, Government of Telangana. 

The inaugural ceremony will also be attended by Dr Manoj Srivastava, President, IDA Head Office; Dr Nitin Barve, President-Elect, IDA Head Office; and Dr Ashok Dhoble, Honorary Secretary General, IDA Head Office.

A major highlight of this year's convention is its dedicated focus on Sports Dentistry, an emerging discipline that integrates oral healthcare with sports medicine. Scientific sessions will explore dental trauma prevention and management, athlete oral health assessments, custom mouthguards, emergency dental care protocols and the growing role of dentists in supporting athletic performance and safety.

The scientific programme will feature renowned national and international speakers presenting the latest developments in digital dentistry, implantology, esthetic rehabilitation, endodontics, orthodontics, preventive dentistry, evidence-based clinical practice, artificial intelligence, biomaterials, minimally invasive procedures and interdisciplinary patient care.

Participants will also have the opportunity to attend hands-on workshops and clinical training sessions covering advanced materials, digital workflows, imaging technologies, diagnostics and contemporary treatment techniques under the guidance of experienced clinicians.

The convention will also host one of India's largest dental trade exhibitions, with more than 250 national and international exhibitors showcasing the latest products, equipment and technological innovations in oral healthcare.

Adding an academic and cultural dimension to the event, UDAAN will feature scientific paper and poster presentations, table clinics, quizzes, debates, music, dance and cultural performances, providing a platform for students and professionals to showcase their talent and exchange knowledge.

Ahead of the convention, Telangana Health Minister Shri Damodar Raja Narsimha was felicitated by the IDA office-bearers and the organising committee during a courtesy meeting where he was formally invited to inaugurate the event. The delegation included Dr Srikanth, Organising Chairman, HDC 2026 and Secretary, IDA Deccan; Dr Y.S. Reddy, Organising Treasurer; Dr Aditya Sandeep, Organising Secretary; Dr Arjun Yadav; Dr P. Karunakar; Dr Prafulla; and Dr Niranjan Reddy.

The Indian Dental Association is the country's largest professional body representing the dental fraternity, with more than 75,000 members, 33 state branches and 450 local branches. The association works to promote science-based dentistry, professional education, research and public awareness while advocating for improved oral healthcare standards across India.
