New facilities integrate AI-enabled digital workflows, guided implant planning and advanced diagnostics to enhance dental education and patient care
Manav Rachna Dental College (MRDC) has inaugurated the Centre for Digital Dentistry, the Centre for Advanced Oral Implantology, and the Temporomandibular Disorders (TMD) Centre, expanding its clinical and academic capabilities through advanced digital technologies.
The three centres, established under the Department of Futuristic Dentistry and the Department of Prosthodontics, bring together digital diagnosis, smile design, implant planning and computer-guided treatment in an integrated ecosystem.
The initiative aims to equip students with hands-on experience in contemporary dental technologies while improving access to advanced oral healthcare.
The facilities were inaugurated by Lt. Gen. Dr. Vimal Arora, Chief Clinical Officer, Clove Dental, who highlighted the growing role of digital workflows and precision-driven treatments in modern dentistry.
"Dentistry is evolving rapidly with digital workflows, guided procedures and precision-driven treatment becoming part of everyday practice. Students must be exposed to these technologies during their education so they are ready for modern clinical practice," he said.
Dr. Puneet Batra, Pro Vice Chancellor (Health Sciences) and Dean of the School of Dental Sciences at Manav Rachna International Institute of Research and Studies (MRIIRS), said the centres strengthen the institution's academic and clinical capabilities by integrating advanced digital technologies into teaching, research and patient care.
The Centre for Digital Dentistry features intraoral 3D scanning, CAD/CAM-based restoration design and digital smile planning, enabling clinicians to visualise treatment outcomes and fabricate selected restorations in-house, reducing treatment timelines.
The Centre for Advanced Oral Implantology combines Cone Beam Computed Tomography (CBCT), digital implant planning and guided implant surgery to support precise diagnosis and comprehensive implant care.
Meanwhile, the Temporomandibular Disorders (TMD) Centre offers specialised diagnosis and treatment for jaw joint disorders using technologies such as surface electromyography (EMG), Joint Vibration Analysis (JVA) and digital occlusal analysis.
Dr. Ashish Kakar, Director, Manav Rachna Centre for Dental Excellence, said digital technologies enable clinicians to make more informed decisions while improving treatment precision and patient experience.
Dr. Pankaj Dhawan, Head, Department of Futuristic Dentistry and Implantology, noted that exposing students to industry-standard technologies ensures they are better prepared for modern clinical practice.
Prof. (Dr.) Sanjay Srivastava, Vice Chancellor, MRIIRS, said the new centres will strengthen research, interdisciplinary collaboration and innovation while aligning dental education with the evolving needs of the profession.
