Whole-genome-based pre-cycle fertility assessment aims to identify genetic and biological risks that may be missed in standard IVF workups
MetaQon Precision Health has announced the India rollout of MetaQon Reproductive Intelligence, a pre-cycle fertility assessment designed to identify genetic and biological risk factors that may not be detected through standard first-line IVF testing.
The platform is intended for use by fertility clinics before couples begin an IVF cycle, rather than after a treatment failure. It combines whole-genome analysis of both partners with a targeted blood biomarker panel and structured symptom review to identify and prioritise potential reproductive risks.
According to MetaQon, the assessment is designed to help clinicians investigate factors such as inherited clotting predispositions, methylation-related genetic variants and sperm DNA fragmentation, which may not be captured through conventional semen analysis or routine pre-cycle testing.
The company said the platform generates a ranked, clinic-ready order set intended to support doctors in selecting confirmatory tests and discussing appropriate interventions with couples before treatment begins.
“ A genetic report on its own tells a couple they carry a risk. It does not tell the clinician what to do about it before the next cycle,” said Yashpal Jain, Co-Founder and CEO of MetaQon Precision Health. “We built Reproductive Intelligence to close that distance, so a clinic can order the right confirmatory test and have the right conversation with a couple in the same visit, months before a cycle would otherwise fail for a reason nobody checked for.”
MetaQon said the offering is aimed at fertility clinics and IVF specialists seeking a standardised approach to pre-cycle workups, as well as couples facing the financial and emotional consequences of unsuccessful fertility treatment.
India is estimated to conduct around 200,000 to 300,000 IVF cycles annually. IVF treatment is generally not covered under standard health insurance policies, while private-cycle costs commonly range from Rs. 1.5 lakh to Rs. 3.5 lakh, depending on the location and treatment requirements.
