India continued to account for the majority of Molbio's business, contributing 83.52% of revenue, while exports accounted for 16.48%

Molbio Diagnostics Limited, the point-of-care diagnostics company behind the Truenat platform, posted a sharp turnaround in the first quarter of FY27, driven by strong growth in Truenat test-kit consumption.

The company reported total income of Rs. 411.48 crore for Q1 FY27, up sharply from Rs. 100.47 crore in the year-ago quarter. EBITDA jumped to Rs. 103.68 crore, compared with a loss of Rs. 14.50 crore in Q1 FY26, while the EBITDA margin stood at 25.20%.

Molbio also swung to a profit after tax (PAT) of Rs. 52.74 crore, against a loss of Rs. 23.94 crore a year earlier. PAT margin improved to 12.82%, from negative 23.83% in Q1 FY26.

The company said growth continued to be led by consumption of Truenat test kits. Test-kit sales rose to 6.24 million units in Q1 FY27, compared with just 0.79 million units in Q1 FY26.

Truenat devices sold during the quarter stood at 164 units, compared with 216 units in the year-ago period and 1,158 units in Q4 FY26.

Domestic markets accounted for 83.52% of revenue, while exports contributed 16.48%.

Molbio said the improvement in EBITDA margins reflected operating leverage from higher test-kit volumes, although this was partly offset by continued investments in building its international go-to-market operations.

Molbio highlighted the non-linear nature of its revenue profile and cautioned that quarterly performance can vary significantly.

During Q1 FY27, export orders worth approximately Rs. 57 crore, originally pertaining to Q4 FY26, were deferred amid the prevailing situation in the Gulf and subsequently recognised in the June quarter.

Commenting on the performance, Sriram Natarajan, Executive Director and Chief Executive Officer of Molbio Diagnostics, said: "FY27 is a milestone year for Molbio, marking our transition to a listed company. I would like to thank our shareholders, employees, customers and partners for the trust they have placed in Molbio through our recent listing, and we remain committed to delivering on that trust through consistent execution.

"I am pleased to report that we have begun the year on a strong note, with healthy growth across both revenue and profitability in Q1. However, our business continues to have a non-linear revenue profile, with performance varying across quarters. We therefore believe it is important to assess our performance on a full-year basis.

"Our pipeline of 34 additional assays across 22 diseases remains on track and will be a key long-term driver as we extend beyond infectious disease into oncology."
