Made-in-India black nitrile glove targets growing hygiene and food-safety requirements across hotels, restaurants and catering
Wadi Surgicals, owner of the Enliva nitrile glove brand, has partnered with Andhra Pradesh-based Hubertus Medical Products to launch Enliva Active, a black, food-safe nitrile glove designed specifically for the HoReCa (Hotels, Restaurants and Catering) sector.
The companies said the product is being introduced as India’s first dedicated black nitrile glove for the HoReCa segment, providing a locally manufactured alternative for restaurants, hotels, catering businesses, food preparation and food-handling environments.
India’s foodservice industry has been witnessing rapid growth, creating increasing demand for products that support hygiene, safety and professional food handling. The Indian foodservice market was estimated at around US$85.2 billion in 2025 and is projected to reach US$153.4 billion by 2031, growing at a CAGR of 10.3%.
Enliva Active’s black colour is designed to offer a practical advantage in food-handling environments by providing visual contrast against food. The companies said this can also help in identifying glove fragments in the event of accidental tearing.
The collaboration between Wadi Surgicals and Hubertus Medical Products is aimed at developing products tailored to the requirements of India's expanding foodservice sector, while leveraging domestic manufacturing capabilities.
Production of Enliva Active has commenced at approximately 60 lakh gloves per month, translating to around 7.2 crore gloves annually. The companies plan to scale manufacturing capacity to approximately 1 crore gloves per month as demand increases. Wadi Surgicals also plans to explore international markets for the product.
Konda Anindith Reddy, Founder & MD, Wadi Surgicals Pvt. Ltd., said the launch represents an effort to develop a Made-in-India product specifically for the HoReCa industry rather than simply entering an existing glove category.
He said the partnership with Hubertus Medical Products combines Indian manufacturing capabilities with the growing hygiene and food-safety requirements of restaurants, hotels and catering businesses, with the companies eventually looking to take the product to global markets.
Dr. Balaraju Jakkula, Managing Director, Hubertus Medical Products, said the HoReCa sector has specific requirements around hygiene, food handling and professional presentation.
According to Jakkula, Enliva Active has been developed to address these requirements while combining Indian manufacturing capabilities with an understanding of the needs of the foodservice industry.
The companies said the partnership reflects the potential of Indian manufacturing collaborations to develop specialised products for emerging domestic requirements, while creating opportunities to build export-oriented product lines.
