US-based global biopharmaceutical company Amneal Pharmaceuticals has inaugurated a new administrative office in Ahmedabad with an investment of approximately Rs 135 crore ($15 million), marking a fresh push to strengthen its India operations and global business network.
Located on Cliantha Road, the sprawling facility covers approximately 3.35 lakh square feet and will accommodate around 1,200 employees. The new office is designed to bring key teams under one roof, boost collaboration and provide additional infrastructure to support the company's expanding operations in India.
The inauguration underscores Amneal's growing investment in India, where it has built capabilities spanning manufacturing, research and development, quality and commercial operations. The company also operates a commercial office in Mumbai, with its India operations forming a key part of a global network spanning the United States, India and Ireland.
“This new Ahmedabad office reflects Amneal’s continued investment in the people and capabilities that support its global business. India is an important part of our network, complementing our significant and growing U.S. manufacturing footprint,” said Chirag Patel, co-founder and co-chief executive officer of Amneal.
“Across our operations, we are investing in scientific expertise, manufacturing and infrastructure to support sustainable growth and expand access to high-quality, affordable medicines.”
The company's India expansion comes amid a broader push to strengthen its global drug development and manufacturing capabilities. In August, Amneal acquired Kashiv BioSciences, further expanding its capabilities in biosimilar development and manufacturing.
“Our colleagues in India play an important role in advancing Amneal’s research, development, manufacturing and business operations,” said Chintu Patel, co-founder and co-chief executive officer of Amneal.
“This new office brings key teams together in a space designed to support collaboration and their continued development. By connecting our people and expertise across our global network, we can strengthen execution, advance increasingly complex medicines and better serve patients.”
Amneal is also advancing plans to establish two greenfield manufacturing facilities in Gujarat, focused on peptide synthesis and sterile fill-finish manufacturing. The projects form part of a broader investment strategy aimed at building capabilities to support the company's future product portfolio.
