Cipla Limited’s manufacturing facility at Pithampur, Madhya Pradesh, has received seven inspectional observations from the US Food and Drug Administration (USFDA) following a follow-up current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP) inspection conducted at the site.

According to Cipla’s regulatory filing, the USFDA inspection was conducted from August 17 to August 25, 2026, and concluded with the issuance of a Form 483 containing seven observations.

Cipla said it will work closely with the US regulator to address the observations comprehensively within the stipulated timeline. The company did not disclose details of the individual observations.

The latest inspection follows earlier regulatory scrutiny of the Pithampur facility. The site received eight observations during a February 2023 inspection, which was followed by a USFDA warning letter issued in November 2023.

A Form 483 is issued when USFDA investigators identify conditions or practices that they believe may constitute violations of regulatory requirements.

The issuance of the form does not by itself represent a final regulatory action or determination of non-compliance; the eventual implications depend on the company's corrective actions and the regulator's assessment.

The Pithampur facility is an important manufacturing site for Cipla, including products supplying its international markets. Continued regulatory scrutiny of the site therefore remains significant for the company's US business and future product approvals.

The latest development comes shortly after Cipla reported consolidated revenue from operations of Rs. 7,119 crore for the quarter, up 2.3% year on year, while consolidated EBITDA declined 33% to Rs. 1,192 crore.

Cipla's stock closed 1.59% lower at Rs. 1,415 on August 25, amid investor focus on the USFDA development.
