Cronus Pharma has launched Robenacoxib Injection in the United States, giving veterinarians a new cost-effective option for managing postoperative pain and inflammation in dogs and cats.

 

The company said the product is the only FDA-approved bioequivalent to ONSIOR (robenacoxib) Injection, marking the first generic version of the injectable veterinary NSAID to reach the U.S. market.

 

Robenacoxib Injection is indicated for postoperative pain and inflammation associated with soft tissue surgery in dogs at least 4 months old. In cats at least 4 months old, it is indicated for pain and inflammation associated with orthopedic surgery, ovariohysterectomy and castration. In all cases, use is limited to a maximum of three days.

 

The 20 mg/mL solution is supplied in a 20 mL multidose vial and is now available through national and regional veterinary distributors across the United States.

The launch adds another FDA-approved veterinary product to Cronus Pharma’s growing portfolio as the company expands its presence in the animal health market.

The product was approved by the FDA under ANADA # 200-804 as bioequivalent to the reference listed new animal drug, ONSIOR (robenacoxib) Injection.

 

Federal law restricts Robenacoxib Injection to use by or on the order of a licensed veterinarian. The drug should not be used for more than three days or in animals younger than four months. Cronus Pharma also notes that serious adverse events, including hepatopathy, have been reported with long-term use of robenacoxib tablets in dogs.
