MedGenome Labs Ltd. has released a documentary film on the occasion of National Cancer Survivors Day, showcasing how genomic insights can support early and accurate diagnosis and help guide personalized treatment decisions for cancer patients.
The film tells the story of a 70-year-old woman from Kota, Rajasthan, whose persistent cough led to a diagnosis of advanced lung cancer.
While the diagnosis came as a shock, a detailed review of her genomic test results provided critical insights into the genetic alterations driving her disease, helping clinicians determine an appropriate treatment approach. Today, she is living a normal life after successfully battling the disease.
Through the survivor’s journey, the documentary underscores the growing role of precision oncology and genomic profiling in helping clinicians better understand individual cancers and identify treatment strategies tailored to each patient's unique disease biology.
Dr. Bharat Bhosale, Medical Oncologist and Founder of BB Precision Oncocare Centre, said, “In cancer care, every patient's disease can behave differently. Understanding the molecular characteristics of a tumour provides an additional layer of information that can complement clinical assessment and help guide treatment decisions.”
“As our understanding of cancer biology continues to evolve, genomic profiling is becoming an increasingly valuable tool in supporting a more personalized approach to patient care,” added Dr. Bhosale.
Dr. Prashanth Bagali, Head of Scientific Affairs – Oncology, MedGenome Labs Ltd, said, “Cancer care is becoming increasingly personalized, and genomics is playing an important role in enabling that shift by contributing to a more comprehensive understanding of cancer and supporting informed clinical decision-making.”
“By sharing real survivor journeys and personal experiences like these, we aim to bridge that awareness gap that can help other patients and families better navigate their cancer journeys,” added Dr. Bagali.
