Deal expands SPI Pharma’s manufacturing footprint in Germany, enhances pharmaceutical ingredient offerings, and reinforces focus on fast-growing digestive health market
SPI Pharma, a business of Associated British Foods plc (ABF) and part of the ABF Ingredients division, has completed its acquisition of 100% of the share capital of Elementis Pharma GmbH, a business formerly owned by Elementis plc.
The transaction agreement was originally signed in March 2026 and has now been finalized following the receipt of all required regulatory approvals. With the completion of the deal, Elementis Pharma formally becomes part of SPI Pharma.
Elementis Pharma operates a pharmaceutical manufacturing facility in Ludwigshafen and is a provider of Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients (APIs), primarily focused on antacid actives and other compounds used in the treatment of gastrointestinal conditions.
The business and its experienced workforce further strengthen SPI Pharma’s existing capabilities in pharmaceutical ingredients, including digestive aids.
The acquisition significantly enhances SPI Pharma’s strategic position in the rapidly expanding digestive health market. Growing consumer awareness of the relationship between gut microbiome health, overall wellness, and immune support continues to drive demand for digestive health products globally.
