SPI Pharma completes acquisition of Elementis Pharma
Deal expands SPI Pharma’s manufacturing footprint in Germany, enhances pharmaceutical ingredient offerings, and reinforces focus on fast-growing digestive health market

SPI Pharma has completed its acquisition of Elementis Pharma, marking a strategic push to strengthen its position in the fast-growing digestive health market.
The deal, first agreed in March 2026, has now formally closed following all required regulatory approvals. The business was previously part of Elementis plc and now officially joins SPI Pharma as a wholly integrated unit.
Elementis Pharma operates a pharmaceutical manufacturing site in Ludwigshafen and supplies active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs), with a core focus on antacid actives and compounds used in gastrointestinal treatments. Its addition expands SPI Pharma’s existing portfolio in digestive health ingredients and strengthens its manufacturing footprint in Europe.
The acquisition comes as SPI Pharma positions itself to benefit from rising global demand in digestive wellness, driven by growing awareness of the gut microbiome and its links to immunity and overall health.

Associated British Foods said SPI Pharma will now begin a phased integration process focused on maintaining continuity, quality, and uninterrupted supply to customers.
